EXPERIENCE

Attended College studying Engineering, moved into an apprenticeship to commence earning a wage whilst completing my studies. Upon completing the apprenticeship continued to work hands on with exposure to a variety of applications; mining, forestry, construction and transport industries.

Moved to Melbourne to further my experience with a wider variety of equipment types and duties in workshop and field environments.

I travelled to Europe where I spent two and a half years working in logistics and maintenance with tourism companies and travelling. After which I returned to Australia and the heavy diesel/ mobile plant industry for several years.

I worked as a Service Technical Trainer for a period where we developed our own materials and resources. We delivered Technical training to Apprentices and Technicians from foundational to advanced levels and Operator Equipment Familiarisation courses. From this I worked my way up into frontline supervision and Management roles.

I moved overseas to work in the following countries:

> PNG in the mining, construction and pipeline industries
> Indonesia in the mining industry
> Singapore and Malaysia
> North America associated with underground mining
> Canada, Western USA including Alaska, NW Territory and Mexico

Living and working in such places gave me a depth of experience dealing with isolated work sites, basic conditions and resources, varieties of cultures and languages. It also provided the opportunity to mentor local staff and guide them into further career advancement. In some instances, it involved setting up new operations, building relations and contacts in the region. Also gave me new experiences being part of a team working major tradeshows such as Minexpo and Conexpo in Las Vegas and delivering talks and break-out sessions at conferences.

During this period, I held a variety of roles:

> Site Technician: general maintenance, component rebuilds, machine rebuilds and troubleshooting (largest fleet 1,000 plant at Freeport mine)

> Team Leader of National employees (crews from 6 to 50 staff)

> Service Manager

> National Sales Manager all applications (PNG & Solomon Islands)

> Technical Product Support; involved training, troubleshooting, failure analysis, managing warranty, application engineering, production studies & site audits

> Site operations ranging from metro quarries to large mines with hundreds of mobile plant.

> Regional Manager; sales and marketing duties (Mexico, US, Canada, Alaska, NW Territory)

Since returning to Australia I was employed as a major Customer Development Manager (Boral, Holcim, Coates Hire & Dept. of Sustainability and Environment) then became involved with the vocational education industry. I helped to disband a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) joint venture, sorting assets and personnel who were to join the new entity. Created and built up a new RTO including attaining government accreditation and compliance.

It was an enterprise RTO and responsible for all internal training and development planning, organisation, delivery and record keeping also included developing and delivery of training to external Customers.

We managed the internal apprenticeship system and delivery of training beyond their TAFE studies running between 60 to 75 Apprentices. We created and managed a central training data base for all employee records for the first time in the company history. This gave me invaluable experience and insight into the VET industry.

Throughout my career I have been involved with mentoring and developing junior staff, as a consultant I have mentored Managers at various levels up to CEOs.
